As a Naperville cosmetic dentist, Dr. Han knows how important it is to offer the best in cosmetic treatment. A bright white smile and straight teeth are highly desirable and using high quality, durable products is essential in achieving a smile that will last years. At Cynthia Han, DDS we utilize traditional, Empress, and zirconia crowns and veneers to provide patients with radiant smiles.
Typically, if a patient has crooked or yellowed teeth that cannot be fixed with a whitening treatment, or they want an alternative to braces, veneers are a suitable option. We have all-porcelain veneers and crowns available to patients. These crowns and veneers are custom molded then bonded with the teeth. Traditional crowns are composed of porcelain fused to metal. Over a period of time, the porcelain wears near the gumline and a thin black strip (metal within the crown) becomes exposed and causes an unsightly dark line near the gums. Because Empress crowns and veneers are entirely comprised of porcelain, they will always look natural and will never show a black line around your gumline.
To provide our patients with variety in treatment options, we also offer zirconia crowns. Zirconia, like all-porcelain, does not have black lines after wearing, nor gingival graying, and is a much stronger material than porcelain. It can also be created with a high opacity, which helps disguise natural tooth discoloration and yellowing. Since Zirconia is a natural material, it is biocompatible and can coexist with natural tissues without causing harm, irritation, or allergic reactions. In tests from the manufacturer, zirconia crowns and bridges were proven to be twice as strong as traditional porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. Given proper care, a zirconia crown should last a lifetime.
As a cosmetic dental patient in Naperville, you should have a choice in deciding what form of treatment is right for your esthetic desires and budget. That is why we offer tradition porcelain-fused-to-metal, all-porcelain, and zirconia options. Regarding teeth whitening, we also have several options for patients to choose from. We have take-home options including whitening trays and white strips.
